Los Blancos has set itself as a global brand and is one of the most widely supported and recognised teams in the world.

On 23rd December 2000, Real Madrid F.C was recognised as the FIFA Club of the 20th Century, and named Best European Club in May 2010. The club received the FIFA Centennial Order of Merit in 2004. They are ranked first in the latest IFFHS Club World Ranking, setting a new ranking-points record.

History
Real was founded in 1902, they chose simply for Madrid Football Club as their official name. However, King Alfonso XIII bestowed the title Real, which is the Spanish word for Royal, to the team in 1920, along with the right to include the royal crown in their emblem.

Real Madrid FC, first established itself as a force to be reckoned with during the 1950s, when it won five European Cups consecutively and reached the final seven times. With Jose Santamaria, Raymond Kopa, Francisco Gento, Ference Puskás, and Di Stéfano, the team was known to be believed as the greatest collection of players in a single club.

The revolution was sparked in 1953 by Miguel Malbo, who was a former Amateurs player. He initiated a two-pronged strategy that involved developing the club’s youth academy while also embarking on a mission to sign elite players from overseas. The strategy was a success, as Malbo was able to convince world-class player Alfredo Di Stéfano to join the team. In an effort to grow the influence of the club, Bernabéu, Bedrignan and Gusztáv Sebes held an exhibition tournament for teams in and around Europe. It was then that the football club established itself as a dominant force in Spanish and European football. Today that tournament is called the UEFA Champions League.

Team
For many years Real Madrid has attracted the world’s best football players, and this cycle does not seem to end anytime soon. The team enters this season with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo which many believe to be the best player in the world, who is a 4x Ballon Dor winner a 2x UEFA Best Player in Europe Award winner as well as other great players in Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos and Toni Kroos to name a few. In January 2016, Zinedine Zidane was confirmed as the new manager, signing a three-year contract. Zinedine Zidane has been a quick success at Real Madrid after winning the Champions twice as well as beating Barcelona to the top of La liga and becoming Champions.
