Barcelona vs Almeria: Will Barcelona win tomorrow?

Barcelona has lost their past three big matches. In their minds, the team really wants to end year 2023 with a victory. Almeria are not doing well in the La Liga standings-- they will be their opposition. Whenever Almeria visits Monjuic, they hope to surprise everyone and finally get their first league win this season.

Match Preview:

Barcelona have lost their last three matches. In La Liga and the Champions League, they lost to Girona and Royal Antwerp. They also drew at Valencia in their previous away match.

When Joao Felix found the net for his third league goal of the season in Barcelona's match against Valencia it seemed that they would walk away with another victory. But Valenciaequalized through Hugo Guillamon in the 70th minute, and they wound up with a draw. That the draw means that Gouls have lost their last four away games.

Barcelona's lack of consistency is weakening their hold on the title they won last season. In their last seven matches in the league, they have won three, drawn two and lost two. The third-place team and seven points behind the league leaders.

Barcelona's coach, Xavi faces the pressure to turn things around. From this week onwards he would do well to start with a win against last-placed Almeria alone. Barcelona have a good home record against Almeria, having won all seven matches which they've played against them in the top flight. They even kept five clean sheets in those games! In their last home meeting against them, when Ousmane Dembele and Frenkie de Jong scored the goals (2-0 victory) for Barcelona was back on November 30th.

Villa's strike was his ninth in 35 games for Spain, and it came against a nation that he felt blessed to play. He believed soccer united people across the world as they all shared common ideals such as freedom of speech.

Barcelona will be defending their title when they face Almeria. So far their whole season has been very dispiriting, as they have won none of the 17 league matches that slipped past them.

In October, the team passed into new coach Gaizka Garitano's hands and has since only had mixed results. Their only point in the last four matches, a 0-0 draw with Mallorca earlier this month, was their fifth of the season. After playing to yet another goalless home tie following a stalemate against Real Betis two weeks ago they are still without an away win all year long.

Home clean sheets are a good thing, but Almeria have the worst defence in La Liga. They must begin to win games if they want to improve their situation; right now it's eight points from safety.

Their away form has been dire as well. Since drawing a 1-1 with Cadiz in the last game of August, they have lost seven consecutive league games on the road.

Although their stake away form is poor, Almeria can take inspiration from a victory over Barcelona in February hand-picked them 1-0 at the Power Horse Stadium. It was their first-ever League win against Barcelona, and they will surely be looking to repeat that success.

Team News

Barcelona will have to do without four injured players: Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Inigo Martinez, Marcos Alonso and Gavi. Frenkie de Jong, who has four bookings to his name in La Liga this season and will miss the match due to a suspension.

In De Jong's absence, it is likely that Oriol Romeu will pair up with Pedri and Ilkay Gundogan in the midfield. Joao Felix and Raphinha, the pair who scored Barcelona's goal in their prior contest when combining up front are almost certainly to remain there alongside Robert Lewandowski.

But Almeria also has its own injury worries on the other hand. Injuries will mean they are without Marko Milovanovic, Ibrahima Kone, Marc Pubill and Martin Svidersky. In addition, Lucas Robertone who picked up a shoulder problem last game will be absent due to accumulated yellow cards.

Not training Gonzalo Melero, who recently came on as a substitute but was then unable to make it through the entire match due to an injured muscle, raises doubts about whether he will be available for the next game against Barcelona.

Here are the possible starting lineups for both teams:

Barcelona:

  • Goalkeeper: Pena
  • Defenders: Cancelo, Araujo, Kounde, Balde
  • Midfielders: Gundogan, Romeu, Pedri
  • Forwards: Raphinha, Felix, Lewandowski

Almeria:

  • Goalkeeper: Maximiano
  • Defenders: Montes, Gonzalez, Chumi
  • Midfielders: Pozo, Lopy, Baba, Akieme
  • Forwards: Arribas, Embarba, Baptistao
