The granite monument, which is more than 3,000 years old and stands 23 meters (75 feet) tall, was given as a gift from Egypt to France in 1829.

A great option is to visit the Palace of Versailles, located about 20 kilometers southwest of Paris. King Louis XIV originally built this palace in the 17th century as a royal residence. Over the years, it has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has served as a prison, a museum, and an exile zone. The Palace of Versailles is massive, so be prepared for a lot of walking.
