Borussia Dortmund Beats FC Copenhagen 4-2, Felix Nmecha Star of the Show

“Dortmund started this fight with a bizarre equaliser, from there it was open season on Copenhagen and players were scoring with control. The last nail was the set-piece clarity and Felix Nmecha’s all-action double.”

Dortmund Controlled the Tempo.

The tempo was under Dortmund control leading to the 4-2 win, thus maintaining the unbeaten record this League phase for Borussia Dortmund, with players like Nmecha, Bensebaini scoring to win. FC Copenhagen did try to fight back, but even then it was too late by that point.

First Half — Nmecha strikes, chaos at the other end

Dortmund settled quickly and led on 20’: Nmecha burst through midfield, combined smartly and finished low for 0–1.  The hosts levelled on 33’ in surreal fashion when a crowded set-piece ricochet ended with Waldemar Anton credited with an own goal, one of several BVB touches that turned the ball over the line. The equaliser energised Parken, but Dortmund regained control before the break with cleaner exits and superior territory.

Second Half — Penalty leverage, Nmecha again, and the clincher

Scoreline leverage returned on 61’ when Lukas Lerager felled Guirassy and Bensebaini slammed in the spot-kick for 1–2. Dortmund’s press and rest-defence prevented any home surge, and on 76’ Nmecha arrived late to tuck in his second for 1–3. Sub Fábio Silva then swept home on 87’, his first goal for BVB to make it 1–4. Copenhagen’s consolation came at 90’ through teenager Viktor Daðason, who notched his first senior UCL goal. Reuters noted the Icelandic forward as one of the youngest scorers in competition history.

Tactical Analysis

Dortmund:

  • Central control: Nmecha’s surges and line-breaking runs repeatedly fractured Copenhagen’s first line and created shooting/cut-back lanes.
  • Set-piece/second-phase detail: The visitors targeted near-post space and recycled deliveries effectively; the penalty arose from pressure and Guirassy’s physicality inside the area.
  • Rest-defence & counters: After 1–2, BVB compressed the middle third, funnelling Copenhagen wide and reclaiming second balls to launch controlled counters that yielded the 1–3 and 1–4. (Club report corroborates timings and goals.)

Copenhagen:

  • Front-foot start, set-piece threat: Early corners and long throws asked questions, and the equaliser came in a crowded box.
  • Chasing issues: Once behind again, the hosts were forced into higher full-back positions, leaving space for Dortmund’s runners and late penalty-box arrivals.

Individual Performances

  • Felix Nmecha (BVB)Player of the Match: Two goals, constant vertical punch between the lines.
  • Ramy Bensebaini (BVB) — Ice-cold from the spot and steady on the left of the back line.
  • Serhou Guirassy (BVB) — Drew the decisive penalty and occupied centre-backs throughout.
  • Fábio Silva (BVB) — Late impact and his first BVB goal to seal the points.
  • Viktor Daðason (FCK) — Cameo goal at 17; a bright note for the hosts.
