Arsenal demonstrated their Premier League prowess once again with a commanding 4-1 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night, keeping pace in the title race with their sixth consecutive league win.
In what seemed like a daunting fixture following their recent UEFA Champions League defeat to Porto, Mikel Arteta's side delivered a ruthless performance, dominating their visitors from start to finish. The relentless attacking display saw Sven Botman's own goal kickstart the scoring, followed by goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, and Jakub Kiwior, sealing a comprehensive win.
Arsenal's high-energy approach kept Newcastle at bay, with the visiting team struggling to make an impact in the Arsenal penalty area throughout the first half. Botman's own goal came in the 18th minute, a result of Loris Karius' impressive save from Gabriel's header off Saka's corner. Havertz doubled the lead just six minutes later, capitalizing on Gabriel Martinelli's cross to find the back of the net.
Saka showcased his dribbling skills with a brilliant goal in the 65th minute, further extending Arsenal's lead. Kiwior then sealed the victory with a header from Declan Rice's corner four minutes later, adding to Newcastle's woes.
Despite a late consolation goal from substitute Joe Willock in the 84th minute, it was a forgettable night for Newcastle, who struggled to make an impact throughout the match. Arsenal's dominance sees them maintain their position in third place in the Premier League table, just two points behind leaders Liverpool and one point behind second-placed Manchester City.
Newcastle, on the other hand, finds themselves in eighth place, with their lacklustre performance highlighted by their failure to register a shot on goal in the first half of a Premier League fixture for the first time in a decade.
