Arsenal fans fume at Aaron Ramsdale’s dad after Bournemouth defeat

Nick Ramsdale, father of former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, has angered the Arsenal fans after Bournemouth's stunning 2-0 win over the Gunners on Saturday. Nick Ramsdale has been an outspoken defender of his son in the past when the player was at Arsenal, and he decided to celebrate on social media after the game, which made many Arsenal fans angry.

Following his transfer to Southampton on the last day of the summer transfer window after being displaced as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper by Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsdale’s father has not minced his words about the club. Following Bournemouth’s win, Ramsdale’s father posted a short message on X (formerly Twitter), celebrating Bournemouth's goal. This post, which many thought was a dig at Arsenal, didn’t go down well with the club’s supporters, especially considering the effect of the outcome on Arsenal’s bid for the English Premier League title.

The match was a blow to Arsenal title prospects as the Gunners performed poorly after William Saliba received his marching orders and then Bournemouth punished them with two goals. Arsenal fans were already angry over the defeat and Nick Ramsdale’s celebration made the situation even worse. This is not the first time he has complained about Arsenal, he did that last year when Aaron was benched for David Raya.

According to the Highbury Squad Podcast, where Nick Ramsdale was a guest of the show, he had expressed his disappointment by saying that he has not been told where his son fits in the team. “We didn’t have a clue Aaron was going to be dropped for David Raya,” he said.

He continued his tirade against Mikel Arteta further and said, “Aaron lost that smile. He was lively, and it is hard to see him like this. The only issue that I have is that when I called Mr. Arteta for a phone conversation before Aaron signed, he told me he wanted him. But now David Raya is back on the market, and he has David Raya.”

As for the red card against Bournemouth, Arteta has said that the final call on whether to appeal will be made by the club.
