Barcelona FC is gearing up for a major revamp in their forward line for the upcoming season, with Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli emerging as a prime target. Alongside Martinelli, the Catalan giants have Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma and Napoli's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on their shortlist, aiming to bolster their attacking options.
According to reports from The Sun, Barcelona is keen on securing the services of Gabriel Martinelli to strengthen their wing options. The 22-year-old Brazilian winger has showcased remarkable potential since joining Arsenal in 2019, overcoming injury setbacks to deliver consistent performances. With 20 goals and seven assists to his name since the start of last season, Martinelli has become a key figure under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. Despite being under contract until 2027, Barcelona's interest in Martinelli remains unabated.
Joining Martinelli on Barcelona's radar are Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma and Napoli's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Mitoma, a promising talent, has also attracted attention due to his impressive displays in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Kvaratskhelia, known for his dynamic style of play, adds further depth to Barcelona's wishlist, albeit being under contract until 2027.
As Barcelona seeks to reinforce their playing squad, they are also in pursuit of a new manager following Xavi Hernandez's departure. The Mirror reports that former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has emerged as a potential candidate to take over the reins at the Catalan club.
Hansi Flick, who previously managed the German national team, is eager to return to management after parting ways with Germany following a defeat against Japan in September. With his extensive experience, including a successful stint at Bayern Munich from 2019 to 2021, Flick is poised to make a comeback in club management.
Flick's aspirations align with the timing of high-profile managerial vacancies, notably at Liverpool and Barcelona. Liverpool's search for a new manager coincides with Jurgen Klopp's decision to step down at the end of the season, presenting Flick with a compelling opportunity. Additionally, Barcelona's need for a successor to Xavi Hernandez positions Flick as a strong contender for the managerial role at the iconic Spanish club.
As Barcelona prepares for a summer of transformation, the potential additions of Gabriel Martinelli and the managerial prowess of Hansi Flick could herald a new era at Camp Nou.
