Bournemouth vs Newcastle: Can Newcastle change their luck today!

Newcastle's chances of reaching the Champions League were affected after they lost again to Borussia Dortmund. Despite having players out with injuries and suspensions, Eddie Howe's Newcastle team is doing well in their local competitions, staying unbeaten in seven games, including a recent victory over Arsenal. They are close to entering the Champions League spots if they win their next game.

Bournemouth, currently facing the threat of relegation, has had a tough time, losing heavily in their recent games against Liverpool and Manchester City. Their coach, Andoni Iraola, felt some relief after a win over Burnley, but is now under pressure again. Bournemouth needs a good performance in their upcoming match against a strong Newcastle side.

Let’s take a look at the match highlights:

First-half begins!!

  • In the 1st minute, the match has started at the Vitality Stadium.
  • In the 2nd minute, Pope, Newcastle's goalkeeper, made a crucial save. Semenyo, from the opposing team, attacked Newcastle's defense and took a strong, low shot aimed at the bottom-right corner of the goal. However, Pope skillfully dived and stopped the shot.
  • In the 8th minute, Longstaff seized a loose ball and hit a powerful shot towards the goal. The ball swerved in the air, challenging goalkeeper Neto, who managed to deflect it over the crossbar.
  • In the 11th minute, Solanke found an opening in Newcastle's defense on the right side. He took his time to weigh his options and then shot at the goal. However, Lascelles from Newcastle made a crucial, last-moment block, deflecting the ball out of play.
  • In the 17th minute, Schar actively participated in the game by intercepting a pass meant for Solanke near the penalty area. This action indicates that his hamstring, which may have been a concern, seems to be in good condition.
  • In the 26th minute, Almiron made an impressive run down the right side, challenging Kelly, and his efforts paid off as he won a corner kick for the Magpies (Newcastle).
  • In the 28th minute, Willock delivered a cross towards the far post, which Lascelles aggressively headed towards the goal. The header was deflected, but Neto, the goalkeeper, made an excellent save. There was a possibility that Lascelles was offside during this play, although it was a close call.
  • In the 29th minute, Kluivert managed to get past Willock in the midfield and advanced towards the edge of the penalty area. He then took a shot aimed at the left side of Pope's goal. However, Pope, the Newcastle goalkeeper, successfully parried the ball, sending it behind the goal.
  • In the 31st minute, Christie reacted quickly to a loose ball in the penalty area and struck it hard into the ground. Although Pope, the Newcastle goalkeeper, saw the ball late, he managed to make a great save by punching it away from danger.
  • In the 37th minute, Solanke received a long pass and quickly passed it to Semenyo. Semenyo then attempted a shot on goal with his right foot, but his effort narrowly missed, passing just inches wide of the left post.
  • In the 43rd minute, Trippier made a strong run down the right side and attempted a sliding move to send the ball back into the center. However, the ball hit Kelly, then bounced off the Newcastle captain, and went out for a goal-kick. Replay footage later revealed that the ball last touched the Bournemouth player, Kelly.
  • In the 45+1 minute, Solanke has returned to the field and seems to have recovered from his minor injury for the time being.
  • In the 45+3 minute, as the first half nears its end, the home team has been lacking effectiveness in their play. Newcastle, on the other hand, is likely to be more content with the game's progress as half-time approaches.

Second-half begins!!!

  • In the 47th minute, Solanke seized an opportunity when he intercepted a poorly executed pass from Trippier. He aimed for a chance against Pope, the goalkeeper, but a heavy touch on the ball caused him to lose control, resulting in the ball going out for a goal-kick.
  • In the 52nd minute, Tavernier made a strong run into Newcastle's penalty area from the left side and passed the ball back to Semenyo. Semenyo took a shot at the goal, but his effort was blocked and prevented from scoring.
  • In the 57th minute, Cook received a yellow card for unsporting behavior. After pushing Gordon to the ground, he further showed misconduct by kicking the ball away, leading to his booking.
  • In the 60th minute, it’s a goal for the home team! Solanke puts the Cherries (Bournemouth) in the lead with a score of 1-0. The goal came from a play where Semenyo attempted to pass the ball to Solanke, which then took a deflection. Solanke capitalized on this, taking the ball smoothly and shooting a precise, powerful strike with his right foot into the bottom-right corner of the net.
  • In the 66th minute, Parkinson has made his debut in the Premier League for Newcastle (the Magpies), coming on as a substitute for Miley. Following his introduction to the game, Parkinson has taken a forward position, allowing Joelinton to move back into a different role on the field.
  • In the 68th minute, Smith has come on to replace Aarons in the right-back position, as Aarons is unable to continue playing due to an injury he sustained.
  • In the 72nd minute, Tavernier received a pass from Solanke and took a shot at the goal using his left foot. He aimed a powerful strike towards the top-left corner, but Pope, the goalkeeper, was able to deflect the ball, pushing it behind the goal for safety.
  • In the 73rd minute, it’s a goal! Solanke scores again, bringing the score to 2-0 in favor of Bournemouth (the Cherries)! They have increased their lead with Solanke's close-range goal. Cook delivered a threatening cross from the left flank, which Sinisterra headed against the post. Solanke was quick to respond, guiding the ball past Pope and into the roof of the net. There was a tense moment as VAR checked for a possible handball, but the goal was confirmed and allowed to stand.
  • In the 77th minute, Schar made an aggressive move from the defensive line, advancing all the way to the edge of the penalty area before being halted. The ball then deflected to Longstaff, who found himself with some room to maneuver. However, his attempt to capitalize on this opportunity resulted in him sending the ball over the goal.
  • In the 80th minute, Sinisterra nearly sealed the game for the home team with a powerful long-range shot. Unfortunately for him and his team, the ball just missed the goal, passing only inches wide of the post.
  • In the 81st minute, Solanke made a fast break down the right side and played a cutback pass to Sinisterra. Sinisterra controlled the ball well with his first touch, managing to get past Lascelles of Newcastle. However, Lascelles recovered quickly and was able to deflect Sinisterra's shot, sending it wide of the goal.
  • In the 85th minute, Lascelles was given a yellow card for a tackle from behind on Ouattara, indicating a foul play.
  • In the 86th minute, Marcos Nicolás Senesi Barón has been shown a yellow card, indicating he committed a foul or unsporting behavior that warranted this caution. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) conducted a review for a possible handball offense by Gordon. However, after the check, the decision was made to not award a penalty, maintaining the original ruling on the field.
  • In the 88th minute, Solanke, aiming for his third goal of the match, received a pass from Christie. However, his shot from an angle missed the goal and hit the side netting instead.
  • In the 90th minute, Quattara made a rapid advance down the left side and set up Sinisterra for a shot. Sinisterra took a powerful, low shot at the goal. Pope, the goalkeeper, made an impressive save, securing the ball before Solanke had a chance to respond.
  • In the 90+2 minute, Tavernier got hold of a cutback pass from Quattara on the left side and found himself with an open goal opportunity. Unfortunately, he was unable to capitalize on this chance, as his shot went off target, missing the goal.
  • In the 90+6 minute, Marcus Joseph Tavernier has been substituted off the field and replaced by Joseph Matthew Rothwell in the match.
  • In the 90+7 minute, Pope, the goalkeeper, made an outstanding save, demonstrating quick reflexes to deflect Sinisterra's shot over the crossbar. Sinisterra had connected with a cross from Christie, which then took a significant deflection off Lascelles. Despite this unexpected change in trajectory, Pope was able to adjust and make the save. His performance in this match has been crucial in preventing a larger deficit in the scoreline.

And that’s all for today! The 90 minutes of the match is now official over. Bournemouth take a good lead on Newcastle by scoring two goals in the game and defeating the Newcastle team with a great hand. Did you love the match? If yes, do comment and let us know.
