Cole Palmer’s Heroics Not Enough as Blues Share Points

It was another goal-laden afternoon for Chelsea's Cole Palmer, but his efforts did not result in all three points for his side against lowly Burnley, as Vincent Kompany's visitors grabbed a late equaliser through Dara O'Shea. Josh Cullen had earlier got The Clarets' first leveller of the afternoon in West London, after Palmer's perfect Panenka had put Mauricio Pochettino's men into the lead. Cole Palmer's brace proved in vein as Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by ten-man Burnley in the Premier League.

The Blues were pegged back twice at Stamford Bridge where, despite Lorenz Assignon's early red card, second-half goals from Josh Cullen and Dara O'Shea rescued a precious point for the relegation-threatened Clarets. Having gone close through Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson – as well as seeing Axel Disasi denied by VAR – Chelsea broke through just before half-time. Assignon was dismissed for a second yellow card after bundling over Mykhailo Mudryk in the box, before Palmer's delightful Panenka from the penalty spot put the hosts in front.

Burnley responded within two minutes of the restart. Cullen played a neat one-two with substitute Josh Brownhill, and drilled a tremendous 20-yard volley past Djordje Petrovic.

Palmer restored Chelsea's lead in the 78th minute, latching onto Raheem Sterling's neat flick before slotting past Arijanet Muric. However, the visitors hit back four minutes later as O'Shea headed in another equaliser. Both sides went close to snatching all three points late on. Sterling nodded wide from close range, while Jay Rodriguez headed against the crossbar as the points were shared at the Bridge.

MAN OF THE MATCH – COLE PALMER: CHELSEA YOUNGSTER SHINES IN THRILLING DRAW

In a match filled with excitement and drama, Cole Palmer stood out as the standout performer for Chelsea. The young midfielder showcased his talent and composure on the ball, contributing two crucial goals to give his side the lead on two occasions. Palmer's brace demonstrated his ability to make an impact in important moments, earning him the title of Man of the Match.

TALKING POINT – BLUES FRUSTRATED AS BURNLEY SECURE LATE POINT

Despite dominating for large parts of the game and holding the lead twice, Chelsea was left frustrated as Burnley managed to snatch a late equalizer. The Blues will rue missed opportunities and defensive lapses that allowed the visitors to salvage a point. Mauricio Pochettino's side will need to regroup and address their inconsistencies as they aim to maintain their challenge at the top of the Premier League table.
