Crystal Palace vs Everton: Can Everton continue their winning streak today?

Confidently, Everton has won in the past against West Ham and Brentford in London, thus moving to the city of Manchester with even more confidence. However, they are expected to travel to Crystal Palace’s ground, where a win would see them move up to 12 positions in the league. Sean Dyce’s team has proved good form in winning one of the recent three matches away.

However, crystal palace has already turned their focus to battle Everton after defeating Burnley 2-0 on turf moor. Although, they cannot equal this feat at home despite they have registered only one draw and one defeats in their last three league games. In their last 17 encounters, Crystal Palace have only won once against Everton. Roy Hodgson and his men would smile home having achieved much more that could even see them occupying the best part after the second long time away.

Let’s take a look at today’s match highlights:

First-half begins!!

  • In the first minute, Garnier takes the pitch for Everton at Selhurst Park!
  • Goal in its 2nd minute!!! Everton takes the lead 1-0!!! After the box’s scrappy brawl, Doucoure exhibits great composure when offering the ball to Harrison on the right side. A floated cross is sent to the back post where Mykolenko is waiting just right and heads it in the net. this is his second goal within two weeks.
  • After 4 minutes Palace penalty! Eze smartly navigates his way through a cluster of Everton players before advancing towards the penalty box. Eze goes down while Brathwaite stretches out his leg. The referee awards a penalty!
  • A goal in the 5th minute. It's 1-1! Palace levels the score! Shortly after Brathwaite fouls Eze in the box, the referee announces a penalty. Pickford has no chance as Eze goes forward comfortably and puts the ball in the corner confidently. Hodgson came out with a swift reply!
  • The first ten minutes are controlled by Hodgson’s team, as they have 60.6 possessions and leads their opponent only a few points apart at 5 to 2. It looks like that is how Dyche runs the shop with his team sitting back trying to soak up all the pressure but hoping to catch the opposition off-guard to strike on the counter. So far, he has been doing very well with this approach especially as regards Everton.
  • Half-chance for the Toffees in the 16th minute!” The side of Dyche’s team passes the ball effectively, and Young sends a high cross towards the back post. Johnstone makes a simple save though as he comes off his line and is in position to intercept a strong volley headed in on target by McNeil.
  • Diving in the 24 minute and Eze! Palace’s midfielder manoeuvres his way passed various defenders, which leads to Brathwaite attempting a challenge on him. Nevertheless, the referee sees no contact and cards Simulation against Eze.
  • In the 29th minute, Garner shows tremendous ball mastery barely outside the Palace area, allowing him to try at a shot. Everton’s midfielder attempts to send the ball into the bottom corner; however, it flies by just at the post of Johnstone.
  • Garner has an amazing touch just out of the Palace box where he is afforded a chance to shoot in the 36th minute. The Everton player attempts to hit into the bottom corner but is a whisker wide of the Johnstone’s post.
  • So far, he has only touched the ball 11 times in the first half. In order for Everton to have a positive outcome, it must incorporate him more into the game. Having netted thrice from the league and co-holding the spot of Everton’s best goal scorer, the English striker boasts three goals so far into play for his club.
  • During the 45+2 minute, Doucoure is issued with a yellow card for throwing the ball aside to frustration where Palace was awarded a free-kick.
  • Eze still creates chances in the 45+4 minute where he sends Edouard through on the right side. Pickford fumbles an early shot from the Palace striker, then Tarkowski clears the ball over for a corner. It can be imagined that Dyche does not like the fact that much Eze is getting in the middle.

Second-half begins!!!

  • In the 48th minute, Mykolenko takes a ball down the left side of the playfield, moving ahead of the Palace defence player, and puts a cross in the danger zone. Guehi wakes up just in time to block the cross and send it wide for a corner.
  • The 49th minute … it’s the goal!!!! Everton takes the lead 2-1!!! After taking a corner, the ball goes back and Gueye takes it in hand. He brings Mykolenko into action and he strikes a marvellous long shot that rattles against the bar. Doucoure has all the space in the penaly zone and easily sends the ball into an empty net! The fourth Premier league goal that has been scored by Doucoure!
  • In 54 minutes Eze runs within the Everton penalty box, making shift of the ball to his right leg and shooting in the low section of the goal post. Pickford acts swiftly and parries however for the other side is one heart-throbbing instant. They put more and more pressure on palace with a second corner.
  • Just 10 minutes with no goal… Everton almost scored. Schlupp sends a ball to the back post where Mykolenko can’t clear and Gueye loses it in air. It hits them and then Pickford clears it over the bar corner kick. In that instant, it is a close shave for their team as they almost score an own goal.
  • After 63 minutes into the game’s second half, Palace is on the ball with 77.6 %, and clearly Everton seems to be defending deep into the half inviting the pressure. Nevertheless, Hodgson’s team has only managed a single target attempt to be tested off by Pickford only once.
  • The equalizing opportunity for Crystal Palace in the 65th minute!! Lerma finds Edouard out towards Everton’s penalty area. Edouard moves away from his marker, cuts back in towards the keeper who returns the ball to Lerma on the left-edge of the penalty area. However, Lerma misses the point after shooting at it. Palace miss their chance!
  • With 2 minutes remaining, substituted Palace’s player Olise is already a problem for Everton’s back. Midfielder comes infield at left and strikes his effort beyond Pickford. Nevertheless, the shot deviates a defender for a corner kick. Olise might just be the spark that will help Palace bounce back in the contest.
  • In the 73rd minute, Crystal Palace equalizes with a goal from Edouard, taking advantage of a defensive mistake by Everton. The game is now tied at 2-2.
  • In the 76th minute, Everton makes a substitution in the attack, bringing on Beto for Calvert-Lewin.
  • In the 78th minute, the Selhurst Park crowd is energized following the goal, and Crystal Palace is putting tremendous pressure on Everton as they search for another goal. Everton is finding it difficult to escape their own half and is under constant attack from Crystal Palace.
  • In the 83rd minute, Hodgson makes an alteration in the attacking department as Palace looks for the winning goal. Edouard is substituted, and Mateta comes on in his place.
  • In the 86th minute, it’s a goal!!! Everton takes a late lead, making it 3-2! Doucoure makes a crucial turn in midfield and has plenty of space. He delivers a perfectly weighted throughball to Gueye, who receives it excellently and shoots past Johnstone. Late drama at Selhurst Park!
  • In the 88th minute, Amadou Ba Zeund Georges Mvom Onana receives a yellow card.
  • In the 89th minute, Garner receives a yellow card for his foul on Ayew.
  • In the 90+2 minute, the game is tense in added time, with Everton defending deep to protect their lead against Palace's attacks. The pressure is on as Palace looks for an equalizer.
  • In the 90+4 minute, Beto had a golden opportunity for Everton, but he couldn't find the target with his shot, leaving the Toffees to rue a missed chance.
  • In the 90+6 minute, Olise had a chance to deliver a dangerous free-kick for Palace, but unfortunately, his effort went high and wide, resulting in a wasted opportunity for the Eagles.

And it’s all over now! What an exciting match it was! Everton finally took the opportunity to win this game because of their attack in the second-half. What do you think? Let us know in comments.
