Al-Ittihad is making waves in the transfer market, setting its sights on two key Manchester City players: Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson. Reports suggest that De Bruyne has already agreed to personal terms with the Saudi Pro League club, while negotiations are underway for the Brazilian goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Barcelona has been linked with a surprising move for N'Golo Kante, who is currently with Al-Ittihad.
De Bruyne agrees terms with Al-Ittihad
Kevin De Bruyne has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Al-Ittihad, indicating a potential move to the Saudi Pro League. The Mirror reports that the Belgian international could soon be on his way to Saudi Arabia.
“Reports in Italy over the weekend claimed he had 'agreed personal terms' with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad,” the article states. While it remains to be seen if De Bruyne will leave Manchester City before his contract expires in 2025, City is eager to retain their talisman.
In February, The Athletic reported that De Bruyne intended to sign a new contract with City, aiming to retire at the Etihad Stadium around the age of 35. However, recent developments suggest he might have had a change of heart, with his representatives reportedly holding talks with new MLS franchise San Diego FC and exploring options in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Ittihad is also making a move for Manchester City's goalkeeper Ederson. The Saudi club is prepared to test City's resolve in keeping the Brazilian international.
The Mail reports, “Al-Ittihad have made contact with Manchester City about sealing a move for Ederson over the coming weeks.” Although Al-Nassr was initially seen as the frontrunner, Al-Ittihad has emerged as a serious contender.
Their offer of £25 million was below City's valuation, but Al-Ittihad remains optimistic and is prepared to negotiate further. Ederson, valued closer to £50 million, could become a major coup for the Saudi Pro League if the deal goes through.
Barcelona is reportedly considering a surprise move for former Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante. Currently playing for Al-Ittihad, Kante has been a standout performer for France during Euro 2024.
“Barcelona could be making a shock move for a two-time Premier League winner and Chelsea icon, ahead of the new season,” reports the Mail. New head coach Hansi Flick is looking to bolster his midfield options, potentially eyeing a loan signing to secure Kante.
Barcelona has shown interest in Kante before, but the player chose the Saudi Pro League over a move to Camp Nou last summer. Al-Ittihad is not willing to part with the 33-year-old easily, having already rejected an approach from West Ham United.
