Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea: Salah and Jones Move Liverpool Back to the Top of the Premier League as Reds Triumph

Liverpool moved to the top of the English Premier League after they narrowly beat Chelsea 2-1 at home. Mohamed Salah converted a penalty in the first half to give the home side the lead before Curtis Jones settled the match for Liverpool in the second half.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool side began brightly, and it did not take long for them to go in front. Mohamed Salah scored against his former team calmly after slotting home a penalty which was awarded after a foul inside the box to make the score 1-0 to the Reds at halftime. Chelsea, however, came back into the game and equalized shortly after the break through Nicolas Jackson, who's goal at first was flagged offside, only for the VAR review to overturn the decision.

A few moments later, Curtis Jones gave Liverpool the lead again through a close-range shot in the 51st minute after the Reds had threatened the Blues’ defense for some time. Jones had been one of the best performers in the match and his goal was a match-winner in a match that was fueled with a lot of drama.

Liverpool stood their ground for the rest of the game and clinched the match and returned to the top of the English Premier League table, displacing Manchester City who for were at the top of the table after their 1-0 away victory over Wolves.
