Manchester City Star Julian Alvarez Asks for Transfer, Snubs New Deal

Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez has reportedly demanded to be sold after turning down a new deal at the end of the last season. This decision has come as a shock to the English champions since he only signed for the club in 2022. Manchester City sports daily El Chiringuito revealed that Alvarez rejected a contract renewal package that would have seen him staying in the Etihad until 2028. Further, he has asked the club to fix a ‘reasonable’ price that it should ask from prospective buyers in Europe.

Alvarez was signed by Pep Guardiola for Manchester City from River Plate after great performances. In two years of his stay at the Etihad, he has scored 36 goals and 18 assist in total of 103 matches. However, a good portion of his appearances has been as a substitute behind Erling Haaland. He also won the World Cup with Argentina national team while playing for Manchester City.

Nevertheless, it seems that Alvarez wants a better role in another cluv, which should not be a surprise. Manchester City is said to be only ready to entertain offers of at least £70 million for the player by The Sun. Other stories on Marca suggest that Manchester City has reject an offer from Atletico Madrid for the forward.
