Manchester United Edge Past Luton Town Despite Late Scare

Manchester United held on to secure a narrow 2-1 victory against Luton Town in a thrilling Premier League encounter at Kenilworth Road on Sunday. Rasmus Hojlund's early brace seemed to put United in control, but Luton's spirited comeback made for a tense finale.

Hojlund's quick-fire goals within the opening 10 minutes appeared to set United on course for a comfortable win. The 21-year-old Danish sensation capitalized on an error from Amari'i Bell to slot home the opener in under 40 seconds. He then doubled his tally with a composed chested finish from Alejandro Garnacho's volley.

Despite United's early dominance, Luton refused to buckle under pressure and mounted a spirited response. Carlton Morris pulled one back for the hosts with a well-taken header on 14 minutes, igniting hopes of a comeback.

United found themselves under significant pressure as Luton pushed for an equalizer before the break. Casemiro's late challenge on Ross Barkley could have seen the visitors reduced to ten men, but they managed to hold on until halftime.

After the interval, United regained their composure and created several clear-cut chances to extend their lead. However, Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho, and Hojlund were unable to convert, keeping Luton in contention until the final whistle.

The result extends United's winning streak to five matches across all competitions, marking a significant turnaround in form. Erik ten Hag's side now sits just three points behind Tottenham and five off Aston Villa in the race for a top-four finish.

Meanwhile, Luton's struggles continue as they have now won just one of their last six league outings, leaving them precariously placed above the relegation zone.

In other news, Brighton secured a dominant 5-0 victory against 10-man Sheffield United, further shaking up the Premier League standings.

As United's momentum continues to build, they will be hoping to carry this form into their upcoming fixtures, while Luton faces a daunting trip to Anfield to take on league leaders Liverpool.
