Arsenal: With Arsene Wenger & Without - Will They Ever Return to Their Former Glory?
Arsenal, led by Arsene Wenger, is a major English football club with 13 league titles and 14 FA Cups

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has received the “full support” of the club’s senior brass after a difficult start to the Premier League season. Ten Hag’s position was under threat after he led the team to an eighth-place finish in the 2023/24 campaign, as well as a poor start to the campaign, losing two of their first three games. But chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth have come out in public to back the Dutchman to turn things around.
Manchester United’s last Premier League game was a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford to Liverpool, making it two successive league defeats for the team who have only managed three points from their opening three games. They have recorded just one win in the entire campaign, that being a 1-0 win over Fulham on the opening day of the season. The Premier League is now on a short international break, and United will have to return to training and prepare for their next match against Southampton on September 14.
However, both Berrada and Ashworth have backed Ten Hag even after the team has endured a somewhat slow start. Ahead of Sunday’s game against Liverpool, Berrada said: “Do we still believe in Eric? Of course. We believe Eric is the right man for the job and we are with him 100 percent.”
Neither Berrada nor Ashworth was at the club’s helm when Sir Jim Ratcliffe was considering potential successors to Ten Hag last summer. However, the search ended with the conclusion that Ten Hag would be extended until 2026. Berrada said: “As for the contract, that was decided before we came, but we are happy with it. Eric has our support and we were in constant contact with him during the last summer transfer window to get the best outcome.”
Ashworth, who signed for United from Newcastle United in the summer, confirmed his feelings, saying: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Eric in the last eight weeks. My job is to help him in any way I can, whether it’s recruitment, medical care, psychological support or even training ground arrangements. I aim to try to take as much of the burden off his shoulders as possible so he can focus on the training ground and match tactics.”
Berrada still believes that with Ten Hag at the helm, United will be able to reclaim the Premier League title that the club has struggled to win since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. “We have started to put together the right team and I am optimistic that we will succeed in achieving our goals.
We don’t want to have just one Premier League title; we want to create a team that can challenge for the Champions League, the Premier League and domestic cups,” he said.
