Manchester United Struck a Deal with Newcastle United for Dan Ashworth

Manchester United has agreed on the terms of release with Newcastle United to enable Dan Ashworth to join the club as planned for the position of Technical Director at Old Trafford. Ashworth was moved to gardening leave by Newcastle in February over alleged compensation issues and will now move to Man Utd after months of discussions between the two clubs.

This is a major shift at Old Trafford where Ashworth will be crucial under the ownership of Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos. Others include Omar Berrada who was appointed as the club chief executive from Manchester City and Jason Wilcox as academy director from Southampton.

Ashworth has extensive experience in the post, as he has been the director of development of the English men’s team and the technical director of the Brighton team. His time at Newcastle, started after the arrival of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, proved his ability to make smart transfers such as Moises Caicedo and Alexander Isak.

Manchester United, which is now managed by Ashworth, must make some crucial signings during the coming transfer period to build up a powerful team for the next season. Some of the positions that have been mentioned to be on the radar of the team include left-back, central midfield, and striker and some of the players that have been mentioned include Matthijs De Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee.
