Manchester United Stunned by Tottenham in 3-0 Defeat at Old Trafford

Tottenham Hotspur clinched a comfortable 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday in the English Premier League match. It was a testy day for the Red Devils and their manager Erik Ten Hag as the Tottenham Hotspur players Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, and Dominic Solanke scored against them. In this match, Bruno Fernandes was sent to an early shower after receiving a red card for a dangerous tackle.

As soon as the ref blew his whistle the first thing that stood out was that Tottenham was the more active side and it was only a matter of time before they scored. The opening goal came after only three minutes when Micky van de Ven made an excellent run and crossed the ball into the box for Johnson who scored with a clinical finish at the far post. United on the other hand looked very shaky and was unable to respond.

The first half was dominated by Tottenham, with United unable to get into the game. Things got worse for the home side when Fernandes, who looked rather impatient, went to the ground after trying to close down James Maddison. This brought Maddison high with his mistimed lunge and the referee could not waste time to brand him a red card, and United were down to 10 minutes before the end of the first half.

Even though the players could have a breather at half-time, the troubles for Manchester United did not end there as soon as the second half began. Two minutes into the second half,  Kulusevski made it two goals for Tottenham with another great goal after Johnson provided a great assist.

As United tried to look for a way to score, Spurs scored their third goal that sealed the victory. Solanke managed to make it 3-0 and all hopes of a comeback for the home side were buried. The final whistle was greeted with boos from the home fans as the Tottenham fans away end danced in joy after watching their side control the game.

This defeat only increases the pressure on Erik ten Hag, whose future is increasingly discussed. With the team performing poorly and fans expecting the team to get its act together, getting tickets for the next matches may provide an opportunity to see United try to claw back this latest loss.
