Declan Rice Aims to Persuade Ben White Back

As Declan Rice gears up to lead England for the first time in his career against Belgium, all eyes are on the young captain. However, discussions also revolve around his Arsenal teammate Ben White, who has opted out of international duty. Rice expresses his desire to engage White in a conversation about his decision and potentially sway him back into the national team fold.

The 26-year-old White has not represented England since the 2022 World Cup and declined a call-up for the March international break leading to Euro 2024. Speaking ahead of the Belgium fixture, Rice highlighted White's versatility on the field and emphasized the importance of his potential inclusion in tournaments.

"He's a really unique player because he can play three positions," Rice remarked. "In tournaments, that’s so key. He can play centre-back, he can play right-back, he can play inverted full-back."

Rice, poised to captain England against Belgium in the absence of the injured Harry Kane, expressed his eagerness to discuss the matter with White upon their return to Arsenal. While acknowledging that the decision ultimately lies with White, Rice hopes to convey the team's camaraderie and desire to have him back in the fold.

"I would love him to come," Rice affirmed. "I think we’re all going to be on him when we get back. Hopefully, he can change his mind."

Reflecting on the honor of captaining England, Rice described it as a surreal moment in his career, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledging his growth as both a player and an individual within the team.
