Newcastle Secure Carabao Cup Final Spot with Dominant Win Over Arsenal

Newcastle have secured their place in the Carabao Cup final after a commanding 4-0 aggregate victory over Arsenal. Goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon in the second leg at St James' Park sealed the triumph, extending Newcastle's impressive record over AFC this season.

For a club that has not won major silverware in nearly 60 years, aside from their 2017 Championship promotion, this victory gives them a shot at finally ending their trophy drought.

Newcastle’s Dominance Over Arsenal

Entering the match with a 2-0 aggregate lead, Newcastle thought they had extended their advantage early when Alexander Isak slotted home just four minutes in, only for his goal to be ruled out for offside. However, they did not have to wait long to celebrate.

In the 19th minute, Jacob Murphy capitalized on an Isak effort that rebounded off the post, slotting home to put Newcastle in full control. Eddie Howe's men showed no signs of slowing down, dominating Arsenal F.C.'s defense with relentless attacking play.

The pressure paid off once again after half-time, as Anthony Gordon punished Arsenal’s defensive lapse to fire home, securing Newcastle’s third win over ARS this season—all without conceding a goal.

Arsenal's Carabao Cup Run Ends

For Arsenal, the defeat ends their Carabao Cup hopes, despite an otherwise strong season in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s men struggled to cope with Newcastle’s intensity and failed to mount a comeback.

Newcastle will now face Liverpool or Tottenham in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium in March. Spurs hold a 1-0 advantage ahead of their second leg at Anfield.
