PSV 1-7 Arsenal: Arsenal Record Biggest Ever Away Win at UCL Knockout Rounds

Arsenal crushed PSV with a seven goals stomping in the first round of UCL round of 16 tie, in which was a one-sided match for the Gunners at PSV’s Stadium.

The seven goals of Arsenal were scored by Jurrien Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, two goals by Martin Odegaard, Leonard Trossard and Ricardo Calafiori, while PSV’s only goal was scored by Noa Lang.

Arsenal have a huge lead before their game at the Emirates Stadium, however PSV will still try to get a win at the Emirates.

First Half: Arsenal Scores Three to Lead 3-1

Arsenal were playing this game without a striker due to their injuries, and were hoping to get out with a positive result from PSV’ Stadium, while PSV were hoping to continue their upsets after eliminating Juventus in the previous round.

PSV nearly opened the scoring in the 15th minute, when a PSV player hit the crossbar from inside the penalty area.

In the 17th minute, Declan Rice crossed the ball to the box, when Jurrien Timber connected and headed the ball into the net.

Arsenal added another goal in the 21st minute, when the hale end players combined after Meyles Lewis-Skelly crossed the ball to Ethan Nwaneri, who blasted the ball into the net.

Mikel Merino took a scramble in the box to his advantage and struck a great shot into the net in the 31st minute.

Thomas Partey committed a foul in the box after a PSV corner in the 41st minute, and Noa Lang managed to slot in the penalty to pull a goal back for PSV.

After just two minutes, Declan Rice nearly scored the fourth for the gunners, but his shot was just wide off the mark.

The action-packed first half ended in a 3-1 lead for the Gunners.

Second Half: Arsenal Add Four More Goals for a Historic Win

The Gunners started the second half right where they left from, and continued to fire on all cylinders.

After just one minute from the half start, Martin Odegaard connected with a rebound from PSV’s keeper, making the score 4-1 for Arsenal.

One minute later, Arsenal added the fifth goal of the night, after substitute Ricardo Calafiori put Trossard through on goal with a beautiful pass, in which the Belgian winger converted.

Arsenal didn’t have enough, as in the 73rd minute, Odegaard added his second goal of the night, after a great solo run ended with a powerful shot that the PSV keeper failed to save.

Everyone thought that this was the end of the action, however Arsenal added the 7th after Calafori’s great run was spotted by Martin Odegaard, who passed a great through ball to the advancing fullback, and the latter slotted a great finish into the net.

The match ended in a huge 7-1 win for Arsenal, which is the biggest ever away win in the UCL knockout history.
