Rayo Vallecano 1-2 Barcelona: Dani Olmo’s debut goal helps Barca secure victory

Barcelona signed Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig and he made his debut for the Catalan club in this match coming from the bench to score the second goal in the final minutes to ensure the team won 2-1 against Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas stadium. The win keeps Barcelona with a 100% record in the La Liga season and makes it the third win in three games in La Liga since the appointment of Hansi Flick.

The game was not an easy affair for Barcelona in the first half as the team was quite rigid in their approach against Rayo Vallecano. The home side opened the scoring through Unai López who was quick to capitalize on a slip by the Barca defenders to beat Marc-André ter Stegen.

Flick’s side came out for the second half with more intensity. Despite several early opportunities given in the match such as a clear miss by Robert Lewandowski, the equalizer looked difficult to come by. However, Barca’s pressure was rewarded in the later part of the second half when Raphinha was able to find Pedri who was free in the box and the youngster made no mistake in putting the ball past Rayo’s goalkeeper Dani Cárdenas.

The change of pace arrived after Olmo was subbed on. Taking the ball on the edge of the box, the Spanish international hit a perfect shot into the top corner of the net, ensuring a win for Barcelona and making it a perfect debut for his new club.

This win has placed Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table, applying pressure on Real Madrid, the defending champions. Flick’s side has demonstrated grit and personality in these initial fixtures. It is therefore important for fans keen to watch these exhilarating performances they get FC Barcelona tickets.
