Slovan Bratislava 0-4 Manchester City: Haaland and Foden Stand Out as City Triumph in Champions League

Manchester City dominated their match against Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League group stage match with a 4-0 victory. Ilkay Gundogan got the first goal since his return to the club, and Phil Foden made it 2-0 with a fine finish. Erling Haaland scored his 42nd Champions League goal, and James McAtee, who entered the match as a sub, added the fourth goal to the tally.

City dominated the match from the beginning till the end, and the Slovakian side rarely got a sniff. Gundogan scored the first goal after 15 minutes with a deflected volley, his first goal since returning to Guardiola’s squad in the summer. Soon after, Phil Foden, who was back in the starting XI after recovering from an injury, made it 2-0 to City with a well-placed shot. The English champions in the end continued to exert pressure on Slovan with the help of one-sided first-half efforts which struck the bar three times.

It was only a matter of time before  Erling Haaland got on the scoresheet, scoring in the 60th minute. The Norwegian striker outpaced the defense, dribbled past the keeper, and put the ball into an empty net to reach his 42nd goal in the competition in 41 appearances. James McAtee scored the final goal in the 74th minute, his first goal for the club.

The next match for Manchester City is the Premier League game against Fulham and Manchester City will try to maintain their good form as they aim to win their 5th Premier League title in a row.
