The debate continues regarding the identity of the new head coach for the Spanish team Barcelona, after the current coach, Xavi Hernandez, announced his departure at the end of the current season.
In this regard, Mundo Deportivo newspaper has compiled a list of ten potential coaches to take over the reins from Xavi. The list includes available coaches such as the German duo Hansi Flick, former coach of Bayern Munich, and Jurgen Klopp, the coach of Liverpool, who has also announced his departure at the end of the current season.
The list also features other prominent names, but securing their services might prove difficult, such as Xabi Alonso, coach of Bayer Leverkusen currently leading the German league, Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain, Robert De Zerbi, coach of Brighton, and Mikel Arteta, coach of Arsenal.
The Catalan newspaper also nominated other names that seem to have less chances, like Imanol Alguacil, the head coach of Real Sociedad and winner of the Best Coach award in the Spanish League last season, Unai Emery, coach of Aston Villa, Sergio Conceicao, coach of Porto, and Michel, coach of Girona.
Barcelona currently sits in 3rd place in La Liga with 50 points, trailing 8 points behind their historic rivals, Real Madrid. Their latest league victory came in a 3-1 win against Alaves on 3/2/2024. They are set to face Celta Vigo on the 11th of this month. Robert Lewandowski leads the team as the current top scorer in the competition.
Despite their recent victory, Barcelona has faced a turbulent period in terms of results, losing four out of their last five games. This has put pressure on Xavi Hernandez, ultimately leading to his announcement of departure.
Barcelona's legendary midfielder, Xavi Hernandez, made a significant announcement following the team's 5-3 defeat against Villarreal. He revealed his decision to depart from the club at the end of the season, citing the need for a change in direction and describing himself as "A solution for Barca." Xavi expressed feeling undervalued by the club's management, stating, "They make you feel that you are not valued in every moment here." Despite leading Barcelona to league victory last season, he faced criticism this season for the team's results and on-pitch performances. Xavi's announcement came after Barcelona suffered four defeats in their last five games, including the loss to Villarreal. He noted that the announcement liberated him on a personal level, hinting at the pressure he experienced from the board.
