That is how many abonados Elche registered for 2026/27, announced on 11 August as the campaign closed for want of seats, in a stadium licensed at 31,388. Anyone weighing up Elche CF tickets is competing for roughly 4,400 seats on paper. The real public pool is smaller once the visiting sector, sponsors and hospitality are taken out.
There is a second reason this fixture is unusual, worth knowing before you compare any listing. Because jornada one was split around the 2026 World Cup, Barcelona's opener against Athletic Club was pushed back to 27 August. This is Barcelona's first competitive league match of the season.
The season ticket campaign tells you how tight this is. Elche took 24,452 renewals, then opened new memberships on 4 August with a Carnet Franjiverde as the entry requirement. By 3 August the entire lower bowl had gone: new sign-ups were restricted to the upper ring only. The campaign closed at the cap on 11 August.
Attendance history says the same thing more directly. Elche drew 502,250 spectators across 19 home league matches in 2025/26 at an average of 26,432, which is 84.21 per cent occupancy. That put them tenth in LaLiga by raw average at the November checkpoint, sixth by occupancy.
The single best-attended match of that season was this fixture. Barcelona's visit on 31 January 2026 drew 31,233, a sell-out. Real Madrid followed at 31,024 and Athletic Club at 29,043, all three full. The lowest gate of the season was 21,253 against Osasuna, so the spread between a routine night and a Barcelona night is around ten thousand people.
Something changed in the small print this summer that matters more than any of it. Elche abolished the Día del Club mechanism, under which the Barcelona and Real Madrid fixtures had been carved out of the season ticket and sold separately even to abonados. For 2026/27 the abono covers all 19 league matches without exception, which is why prices rose by between 42 and 71 per cent depending on zone.
One honest counterweight that on this fixture is a strong one. Elche have published a full price grid and general sale opens at 16:00 on Tuesday 18 August, online, running until the match sells out. Yes, through two routes. The second is the interesting one. The first is straightforward: Carnet Franjiverde holders bought from 12:00 on Monday 17 August with a 24-hour head start, then general sale opened to everyone at 16:00 on Tuesday 18 August. The carnet costs 49.95 euros and buys priority on exactly two fixtures a season, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The second route is the club's seat-release scheme, which is why inventory keeps appearing right up to kick-off. An abonado who cannot attend can release their seat through the members' area up to 24 hours before the match. If it sells, they receive 30 per cent of the ticket value back into a digital wallet, capped across the season at half the price of their abono.
Elche have built a rule that makes releasing almost compulsory in practice. Abonados must use their seat in at least 15 of the 19 league matches, whether by attending, releasing it, passing it to a friend or family member, converting it or upgrading. Miss more than four without managing the seat and they lose the renewal rate next season. Use all 19 and they get 15 per cent off.
Put those two things together on the highest-priced fixture of the year. A Tribuna Cubierta Central seat sells at 340 euros, so a rebate of roughly 102 euros is on the table for a holder who cannot go. Expect released seats to trickle into general sale from the moment it opens until 21:30 on Saturday 22 August.
Two things are not available to you. The Grada de Animación Fondo Sur 1923, the organised support section expanded to 755 seats in July, does not appear on the single-match price list at all. Baby, infantil, juvenil and especial season tickets are marked non-transferable, with the club warning that misuse means the abono is confiscated at the gate.
Unauthorised resale is treated seriously here. The club calls it a serious infraction under its own regulations, with penalties running from a stadium ban to loss of abonado status for six months to two years. The club has previously run an anti-resale operation for the Real Madrid fixture alongside LaLiga and the police.
Five things move the number. Zone leads, because Elche split the ground into 23 separately priced areas. Then whether the seat is Cubierta or Descubierta, covered or open, which is a real price step at this ground.

Two things to know about concessions. There is no child, youth or senior rate for the general public, so a child pays the adult price and every spectator needs a ticket regardless of age under Spanish law. Two points to weigh. With 27 boxes holding six people each, the total private-box inventory in the building is around 160 seats, so anything claiming box access for the biggest fixture of the season deserves scrutiny. The visiting sector sits at the Fondo end with its own gates and its own access route. It has held around 1,500, though in June the club was reported to be studying a reduction to roughly 700 in order to free seats for its season ticket waiting list, on the grounds that only three visiting clubs filled the allocation last season. Whether that cut was applied for 2026/27 has not been confirmed.
Pricing between these two clubs is established and reciprocal. When Elche bought their allocation for the reverse fixture last season, Barcelona charged 70 euros for 339 seats. Elche stated at the time that the same figure would apply to the return at the Martínez Valero. Away tickets are sold by the visiting club to its own members, not by Elche.
No allocation figure for 23 August had been published as of mid-August. If you are travelling in Barcelona colours, go through your own club first and check before booking anything else.
Two practical points shape how many actually travel. It is around 520 kilometres from Barcelona to Elche with no direct high-speed rail link, roughly five and a half hours by road or the better part of seven by train. And Barcelona play their rescheduled home opener four days later, on Thursday 27 August.
One thing the club has not published is any restriction on neutral or visiting supporters buying home areas. The only controls stated are that tickets are nominative, that one may be bought per Carnet Franjiverde and that details must match at the gate. Do not assume a rule exists that has not been written down.
This is the section that will save someone an unpleasant night. Line E is the city bus that serves the stadium, running between the centre, Sant Antón, the ground and the Hospital General. On Sundays its last departure is 22:40. A 21:30 kick-off finishes around 23:20.
The last bus will therefore have gone before the final whistle. The NT night service runs from 23:00 but does not serve the stadium. The council has previously laid on reinforced matchday buses with a night service for a big fixture, so watch for an announcement, but do not plan around one that has not been made.
Walking is longer than most visitors expect. The ground sits on the eastern side of the city while both railway stations are central or western, so it is roughly 40 minutes on foot from Elx-Parc and closer to 55 from Elx-Carrús. Add that to a 23:20 finish and the last train becomes a serious question rather than a detail. Check the timetable for that night rather than assuming.
Getting there is much easier than getting back. Alicante-Elche airport is about 15 kilometres away, the closest airport to any LaLiga ground, with Avanza bus routes R10 and R11 running into central Elche. Cercanías line C-1 links Alicante and Murcia through both Elche stations at one or two trains an hour.
Two further things to plan for. Road works began around the ground in July, a five-month scheme turning the approach into a boulevard, with the club and the council promising that stadium access stays open but may be adapted as phases change. And Elche in late August is hot: mid-August forecasts put evening temperatures around 26 degrees, which is precisely why the league schedules these games at 21:30.
Elche have hosted Barcelona ten times in LaLiga at this ground since it opened in 1976 and have never beaten them. Their last home league win over Barcelona came in 1974/75, a 1-0, at the old Campo de Altabix that the Martínez Valero replaced.
That boundary matters, because most published head-to-head figures cross it without saying so. Elche hosted Barcelona 15 times in the league at Altabix and 10 times here. All eight of Elche's home league wins over Barcelona belong to the old ground. Any aggregate quoting more than ten meetings "at Elche" is mixing two stadiums.
The modern run is one-sided even by that standard. Barcelona have won each of the last five league visits and have not dropped a point against Elche since a goalless draw in May 2014. The heaviest was a 6-0 in January 2015.
