David Alaba Injury Adds to Real Madrid’s Defensive Crisis Ahead of Key Matches

Real Madrid CF has been dealt a significant blow as David Alaba is set to miss crucial upcoming matches due to a thigh injury. The Austrian defender, who had only recently returned from a long-term knee injury, now faces another spell on the sidelines.

In an official statement, Real Madrid C.F. confirmed:

"Following tests carried out on our player David Alaba by Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with an adductor injury in his left leg."

Although RMA did not specify a return date, reports in Spain suggest he could be out for two to three weeks.

Key Matches Alaba Will Miss

The injury means Alaba will be absent for the highly anticipated Madrid Derby against Atletico Madrid on Saturday. Additionally, he is unlikely to recover in time for the Champions League play-off clash against Manchester City, with the first leg scheduled for February 11 in Manchester and the return leg on February 19 at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid’s Defensive Crisis Deepens

Madrid is already dealing with a growing defensive crisis:

  • Antonio Rudiger is also a doubt due to a thigh injury.
  • RaĂºl Asencio, a young academy player, and AurĂ©lien TchouamĂ©ni, a midfielder, could be forced to partner in central defense.
  • Dani Carvajal remains a long-term absentee, leaving Lucas VĂ¡zquez and Fede Valverde as temporary solutions at right-back.

With injuries piling up, Carlo Ancelotti will need to find a way to keep RMA competitive during this challenging period.
