Row A in the lower tier of the Etihad Stadium is now row 4, old block 230 is block 130 and the tier regulars knew as Level 2 is Level 1. Manchester City relabelled every level, block and row from the 2025/26 season, yet most seat advice online still quotes the old codes. That matters because the best seats at Etihad Stadium are decided by level and row far more than by stand. This article sorts them using what supporters who sat there have written, with every block given in the numbering printed on 2026/27 tickets.

Article Summary: The strongest view at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium comes from the central Level 1 blocks on either touchline, 125 to 127 in the Colin Bell Stand and 104 to 106 in the East Stand, while the loudest seats sit in the lower South Stand beside the away section. The seats supporters warn about are the front rows of Level 0 in rain and the back rows of Level 3.

  • The Etihad Stadium holds more than 61,000 in 2026/27, including 4,995 rail seats in the lower tier of the South Stand, according to Manchester City's 2026/27 Supporter Charter.
  • Manchester City renamed Level 1 as Level 0 and Level 2 as Level 1 from the 2025/26 season, so old block 230 is now block 130 and every row carries a number.
  • The Pep Guardiola Stand opened in full on 24 May 2026 with more than 7,000 new general admission seats and at least 3,000 rail seats, according to Manchester City.
  • Arsenal's 3,065 away tickets for the match at the Etihad Stadium on 19 April 2026 were in South Stand blocks 013, 014, 112, 113, 114, 313 and 314.
  • Adult member prices for Manchester City v Ipswich Town on 17 October 2026 run from £20 to £40, as listed by the club in October 2026.

Every verdict below rests on the same evidence: dated seat reviews on A View From My Seat, visiting-fan reports on Football Ground Guide and To The 92, a long-running thread on the Bluemoon forum and Manchester City's own statements on numbering, pricing, standing and the expansion. Many of the summer 2026 reviews were posted from concerts, so they are used here for height, cover and comfort and not for football sightlines. Where the evidence is thin or sources disagree, the text says so. The Etihad Stadium seating plan covers tier structure, hospitality products and wheelchair positions in full, so none of that is repeated here.

Nine verdicts before the detail

Overview of Etihad Stadium with text header "Nine verdicts before the detail" and numbered labels mapping seat features: 1 Strongest View, 2 Best Value, 3 Loudest Home Seats, 4 Newest Seats, 5 Weakest Views, 6 Wettest Seats, 7 Hardest to Sit, 8 Away Fans, and 9 Calmest Seats.

The table sets out the nine judgements this article reaches, in the order the sections below deal with them. Comparing them against Etihad Stadium tickets listed by block is the quickest way to put a price on each one.

# Verdict Where Why
1 Strongest view Level 1, blocks 125 to 127 (Colin Bell Stand) and 104 to 106 (East Stand) Side-on and raised enough to read both penalty areas
2 Widest view for the money Front rows of Level 3 on either touchline, such as blocks 324 to 326 The whole pitch in one frame at a lower price band
3 Loudest home seats Lower South Stand, home side of the segregation line Rail seats, standing supporters and the away section next door
4 Newest seats Pep Guardiola Stand Opened in full in May 2026 with a 59-row upper tier
5 Weakest views Front corner rows of Level 0 and the last rows of Level 3 Flat angles at the bottom, distance at the top
6 Wettest seats Front rows of Level 0 The roof covers every seat but wind carries rain under it
7 Hardest place to sit down Rail seat blocks in the South Stand and Pep Guardiola Stand Designated safe standing areas
8 Visiting supporters South Stand blocks 013, 014, 112 to 114, 313 and 314 One side of the stand across three levels
9 Calmest seats Touchline Level 1 and non-rail rows at the north end Seated, away from the segregation line

The numbers changed: reading a 2026/27 ticket

A person holding stadium access tickets and a seat conversion guide showing old vs. 2026/27 tier renumbering in front of directional signage.

The first digit of every block is now the level it sits on. Manchester City announced on 23 June 2025 that Level 1 would become Level 0, Level 2 would become Level 1 and the hospitality box level would become Level 2, with Level 3 unchanged. The club's own example is that block 130 became block 030 and block 230 became block 130.

Rows changed as well. Letters were replaced by numbers across the stadium, which the club said was primarily because the expanded north end has a single upper tier of 59 rows. On Level 0, Manchester City's supporter services guidance states that the old row A is now row 4, because some blocks have pitchside seats that start at row 1. A listing for "row 5" in the lower tier is therefore the second row of the original stand, with up to three pitchside rows in front of it in blocks that have them.

Until 2024/25 From 2025/26 What it is
Level 1, blocks 101 onwards Level 0, blocks 001 onwards Lower tier
Level 2, blocks 201 onwards Level 1, blocks 101 onwards Second tier
Box level Level 2 Hospitality boxes
Level 3, blocks 301 onwards Level 3, unchanged Upper tier
Rows A, B, C Rows by number; old row A is row 4 on Level 0 All levels

The practical risk is a seller or a guide quoting the old code. "Block 115" described the lower South Stand until May 2025 and describes the tier above it today. Ask which season's numbering a listing uses if the level is not stated, and treat any advice that mentions lettered rows as written before the change.

Touchline Level 1: where the view is won

View of the football pitch centered from executive-style padded seats behind the lower stand barrier, showing players spread across the field.

The two stands that run the length of the pitch give the strongest view, and the sweet spot is the middle tier. Football Ground Guide's September 2026 update advises aiming near the centre circle in either the Colin Bell Stand or the East Stand and avoiding seats that are too high or too low. It names the blocks under their old numbers, 225 to 227 and 204 to 206, which are 125 to 127 and 104 to 106 on a 2026/27 ticket.

Regulars reached the same conclusion long before the relabelling. In a Bluemoon thread from January 2013, one season ticket holder who had moved up from the lower tier called it too low, said the third tier feels too high unless you are in the first seven or eight rows, and judged the second tier "just right". Another picked the front of the second tier on the halfway line as the ideal seat, on the Colin Bell side where the television commentators sit.

That preference is built into the price list. For the Borussia Dortmund match on 5 November 2025, Manchester City charged adults from £50 for East and Colin Bell Stand Level 1 against £35 for Level 0 and Level 3 in the same stands and £30 behind the goals, in the lowest of three sale bands. Central Level 1 seats on both sides typically thin out early for fixtures such as Manchester City vs Arsenal and Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur.

Two details are worth knowing. Reviewers in East Stand blocks 105 and 106 in June 2026 described padded seats, and the club's price lists carry a separate 93:20 band above standard Level 1, so check whether a central listing is a premium seat. The front row of Level 1 is also policed differently: three separate reviews on A View From My Seat, in blocks 105, 115 and 116, report that row 1 ticket holders had to stay seated at June 2026 concerts because of the barrier. That restriction was reported at concerts and could not be verified for football matches.

Level 3 on the sides: wide, steep and decided by the row

High-angle perspective from upper tier seats overlooking the entire pitch and surrounding stadium stands, showing the aisle stairs and legroom space.

Level 3 gives the whole pitch in one frame, and whether that is a good seat depends almost entirely on the row. A Bluemoon season ticket holder in block 324 called the view superb near the front, while another who had sat three rows from the back of the same block described it as "very poor up there". Reviews suggest the tier runs to about 29 rows on the Colin Bell side: a July 2026 reviewer in row 26 of block 326 was three rows from the top.

The climb is the recurring complaint, not the sightline. That reviewer in block 326 described the seat as very high with quite a steep stairway, roughly on the halfway line and with the roof overhead, and gave it four stars. A June 2026 review of row 19 in block 324 gave five stars with a warning that it is not a good choice for anyone who dislikes heights. A September 2026 reviewer in row 22 of block 314 summed up the trade in five words: "Fair climb but great view".

The 2013 Bluemoon thread adds two points that still apply. One poster argued that even from the top of either side stand you can appreciate a 50-yard crossfield pass, which is the case for Level 3 as a tactical seat. Another in block 324 advised against a gangway seat because latecomers and early leavers fill the aisle. Level 3 on the touchlines is priced in the same band as Level 0 on City's lists, so it is typically where availability lasts longest for mid-table opponents such as Manchester City vs Everton.

The South Stand: noise on one side, visitors on the other

Elevated view looking straight down the center of the pitch from behind the goal stand, showing cheering fans holding scarves in the foreground and opposing supporters caged to the side.

The lower South Stand is where the most vocal home supporters gather. Football Ground Guide's September 2026 update says supporters who want atmosphere should sit in the South Stand next to the away fans, where City's liveliest followers sit or stand and trade songs across the segregation line. Manchester City's 2026/27 Supporter Charter counts 4,995 rail seats in the lower tier of this stand.

The view from behind the goal is better than the end-on angle suggests, because the tiers are steep. A visitor who sat at the very back of the lower tier of the home end for a Tottenham match reported a perfect view of the whole pitch on Football Ground Guide. On Level 1, a July 2026 reviewer in row 2 of block 118 described a typical plastic seat with acceptable legroom, and another in row 10 of block 110 noted the seat was under cover with easy access to the bars and toilets.

Be realistic about the noise. Several visiting supporters writing on Football Ground Guide describe the home crowd as quiet during routine wins, and one of the same reports describes the ground rocking after a late winner. The stand is at its loudest when the away section is full and the game is tight, which is why fixtures such as Manchester City vs Chelsea are the ones to pick if atmosphere is the reason for the trip.

The Pep Guardiola Stand: 59 rows and very few reviews so far

View from behind the goal inside Etihad Stadium showing towering tiers of packed seating stands reaching up toward the roof structure.

The north end is the newest part of the stadium and the part with the least supporter evidence behind it. The expanded stand opened in full for the final home match of 2025/26, a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on 24 May 2026, and Manchester City say it adds more than 7,000 general admission seats. The club's relabelling notice puts the single upper tier at 59 rows, roughly twice the depth of Level 3 on the sides.

Three things are confirmed by the club:

  • At least 3,000 rail seats sit within the expanded stand, with the option to add more if demand supports it.
  • Season ticket holders were invited in May 2026 to register for an Enhanced Singing Section, which the club statement placed "from the back row of the new North Stand" within the safe standing area.
  • Seats behind both goals remain the lowest-priced in the stadium, with the same number of £425 season tickets at the north end as in the South Stand.

What is not yet established is how the top third of that upper tier feels on a matchday. No dated football reviews of its back rows had been posted on A View From My Seat by early October 2026, so any claim about the view from row 50 and above is a guess. The safe reading is that the same rule applies as on the sides: the lower rows of an upper tier are the ones to aim for, and the last rows are a long way from the far goal.

City's pricing FAQ also describes this stand as Levels 0, 1 and 2, not the Level 3 label used on the other three sides, so check the level on a listing here before assuming how high the seat is. The stand houses new bar and dining products, City Hall and Crossbar among them, which are covered in the guide to Manchester City hospitality packages.

Seats supporters warn each other about

Wide view of a football stadium with callouts highlighting seating considerations: 1 Awkward angle, 2 Feels distant, 3 Back rows, 4 Aisle traffic, 5 Tight legroom, and 6 Slow exit.

No seat at the Etihad Stadium sits behind a pillar: both To The 92 and Football Ground Guide describe unobstructed views from every stand. The warnings supporters give each other are about angle, distance and comfort:

  • Front corner rows of Level 0. A Bluemoon regular named the corner flag zones in the front two or three rows of the lower tier as the only views in the ground that are not great.
  • Low rows behind either goal. One lower-tier season ticket holder on the same thread said the seat was fine unless the ball was in the other half, and a visiting fan in the lower away section wrote that goalmouth action at the far end seemed a long way off.
  • The last rows of Level 3. Distance and the climb, as set out above, with one former occupant calling the back of block 324 very poor.
  • Aisle seats in busy blocks. Supporters moving up and down the gangway cross your sightline at the start of each half.
  • Tighter legroom for taller supporters. To The 92 notes that legroom is a little less friendly for people over 6ft, so taller visitors should favour an aisle or a front row of a tier.
  • Level 3 of the away section. Visiting fans on Football Ground Guide report a crowded concourse and a slow, single-file exit from the top tier.

Rain, the roof and the front rows

Fans in the front row of the stadium stand wearing hooded raincoats, getting splashed by heavy rain coming off the roof during a match, overlaid with text reading "Rain, the roof and the front rows".

Every seat is under the roof, and the front rows still get wet. A visiting supporter writing on Football Ground Guide put it plainly: sit in the front rows and you are open to the elements, on a day when it never stopped raining. Wind-driven rain can reach the first few rows of the lower tier despite the roof.

The fix is to buy further back. A June 2026 reviewer in row 27 of block 002 reported being protected from the elements, with an accessible viewing platform directly behind. Reviewers on Level 1 and Level 3 in June and July 2026 made a point of saying they were covered. From October to March, rows in the back half of Level 0 or anywhere on the levels above are the lower-risk choice, which matters more on Level 0 now that pitchside rows 1 to 3 sit in front of the original front row in some blocks.

Sit or stand: where the rails are

Spectators wearing blue standing and cheering in the stadium grandstand, holding up team scarves with a father and young girl seated in the foreground.

Persistent standing is permitted in designated rail-seat areas. Outside them, the club lists persistent standing as unacceptable conduct in its 2026/27 Supporter Charter. The lower tier of the South Stand has 4,995 rail seats and the Pep Guardiola Stand has at least 3,000 more, according to Manchester City. Supporters in those blocks should expect the people around them to be on their feet for 90 minutes.

If you are bringing children, or anyone who needs to sit, check whether a block is a rail seat block before paying. A June 2026 reviewer in block 016 at a concert liked the hand rail in front of each row for smaller family members, but that reassurance does not help a child whose view is blocked by standing adults at a football match.

The away end across three levels

A crowded multi-tier stand at Etihad Stadium filled with fans, showing levels labeled L1, L2, and L3 on the concrete pillars, viewed from adjacent seats looking across the pitch.

Visiting supporters occupy one side of the South Stand on Level 0, Level 1 and Level 3. Arsenal confirmed 3,065 tickets in blocks 013, 014, 112, 113, 114, 313 and 314 for the league match on 19 April 2026, with rail seating in blocks 013, 014, 313 and 314. Manchester City's away fan guide directs visitors to entrances L1, L2 and L3 and says they may be held back briefly after the final whistle.

Reports from the section are consistent. Football Ground Guide rates the view as good from all three levels and prefers the lower two; a supporter in block 314 called the stand steep enough that you get a good view however high you are; and several reviews mention repeated ticket checks on the walk to the turnstiles. For league visits with a full allocation, such as Manchester City vs Newcastle United, the home blocks beside the segregation line typically carry the sharpest exchanges between the two sets of supporters.

Cup ties change the map. For the FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle on 1 March 2025, City withdrew old blocks 214 to 219, now 114 to 119, and the whole of South Stand Level 3 from home sale to make room for an extended away allocation. The same can apply in the EFL Cup, so a South Stand seat that is a home seat in the league may not be one in a cup round.

One rule applies in every competition. Manchester City's away fan guide states a zero-tolerance policy on visiting fans in home areas, with ejection for anyone identified, and the club's hospitality terms bar away colours. Away supporters should not buy seats in home areas. Manchester City says identified visiting supporters may be ejected.

Children, first visits and quieter seats

A smiling family of four in blue scarves watching a football match from their stadium seats.

The family areas are in the Pep Guardiola Stand. Manchester City confirms that the expanded stand includes them, and the club's price lists called the north end the Family Stand through 2025/26. The exact 2026/27 block boundaries are not clearly published, and the same stand now holds rail seats and a planned singing section, so check the block type on a listing before buying for children.

For a first visit or a trip with children, three choices hold:

  • Pick touchline Level 1 if the budget allows, for the view and a seated crowd.
  • Pick a non-rail block at the north end if price matters more, since seats behind the goals are the lowest-priced.
  • Avoid the lower South Stand and the blocks beside the away section, where standing and sharp exchanges are part of the appeal.

Accessible seating and where it sits

An accessible seating platform at Etihad Stadium with wheelchair users and companions watching a live match from behind a clear safety barrier.

Wheelchair-accessible viewing positions are available in all stands and tiers, according to Manchester City's 2026/27 Supporter Charter, and the club's listing on Euan's Guide puts the total at more than 250 spaces on a matchday. The charter lists lift access to all levels, a sensory room, live matchday subtitles and audio commentary units for blind and partially sighted supporters.

The Changing Places facility is on Level 0 of the South Stand near block 019, according to Football Ground Guide's 2026 facilities guide. For ambulant supporters, the charter's advice is to sit wherever suits and to ask the club's access team about specific seats. The stairways on Level 3 are steep, as reviewers above make clear, so Level 0 and Level 1 are the easier levels for anyone who finds steps difficult.

What face value tells you about each stand

High-angle overview of Etihad Stadium showing price tier breakdown overlays across the stands labeled Lower, Mid, Higher, and Highest.

Face value at the Etihad Stadium follows a fixed order, and it reflects how the club prices each location. From the lowest price to the highest on City's 2025/26 match lists: behind the goals on Level 0 and Level 3, behind the goals on Level 1, the touchline stands on Level 0 and Level 3, then the touchline stands on Level 1.

The sums involved are small by Premier League standards. Adult member prices for Manchester City vs Ipswich Town on 17 October 2026 run from £20 to £40, as listed by the club in October 2026, and the club confirmed in July 2026 that match-by-match prices for members were held for a third consecutive season. Prices for European nights such as Manchester City vs AEK Athens on 20 October 2026 are published match by match. The Premier League ticket price index sets City's figures against the other 19 clubs.

Access is the harder part. City's sales criteria for 2026/27 restrict the Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City vs Leeds United fixtures to members who bought three or more home league matches across the previous two seasons, at one ticket each. Marketplace prices are set by sellers and can sit above or below face value, so the price order between stands is a guide to relative value, not to what you will pay.

Reading a listing before you pay

Start with the level, then the block, then the row. The first digit of the block is the level; rows 1 to 3 on Level 0 are pitchside; a high row number on Level 3 means a long climb. Labels such as "longside lower" are resale categories and not club block names, so ask for the block and row where a listing does not show them. The guide to buying Manchester City tickets without a membership explains how marketplace listings differ from the club's member sales.
