Tupras Stadium sits on the Bosphorus shoreline between Dolmabahce Palace and the Besiktas ferry pier. The venue holds about 42,000 supporters, is known for a loud Besiktas atmosphere and stages one of Istanbul's most distinctive football nights when the black-and-white home crowd gathers around the bowl. 1BoxOffice has operated as a verified secondary marketplace since 2006 and lists available Tupras Stadium tickets with a 150% money-back guarantee.

| Nearest tram | Kabatas, T1 line, around a 10-minute walk |
| Previous ground | BJK İnonü Stadium, 1947 to 2013, demolished on the same site |
Tupras Stadium replaced the old BJK İnonü Stadium on the same central Istanbul site and kept the dramatic setting that made the ground famous. Dolmabahce Palace sits beside the stadium, the Bosphorus runs along the lower road, and the uphill streets of Besiktas lead into carsı, Akaretler and Macka. Few major European grounds combine a city-centre location, a ferry pier and a palace wall quite so closely.
The bowl is compact by European final standards. That helps the atmosphere because the home support feels close to the pitch from all four sides. It also means seat location matters. A lower-side seat gives speed, detail and player proximity, an upper-side seat gives tactical shape, a behind-goal seat gives noise, and a west-side premium seat gives the strongest hospitality access.
For domestic Besiktas matches, buyers should think about Passolig requirements before comparing sections. For UEFA fixtures at the stadium, including the 2026 Europa League final, Passolig is not required, and UEFA mobile ticketing rules apply instead. That distinction is one of the most important practical points for international visitors.
Tupras Stadium is in central Istanbul on the European side, less than a kilometre from Taksim Square and beside Dolmabahce Palace. Most travelling supporters reach it on the T1 tram, the F1 funicular or by ferry rather than by metro because Istanbul's metro network does not have a station directly at the ground.
The T1 tram is the workhorse line for matchday travel. From Sultanahmet, Eminonü or Karakoy, take the T1 northbound and alight at Kabatas, the end of the line. From the tram stop, it is a 10-minute walk along the Bosphorus shoreline past Dolmabahce Palace to the stadium gates. Tickets are paid with Istanbulkart, the city travel card.
The F1 funicular links Taksim Square to Kabatas in around two minutes and is the fastest connection for fans staying in Taksim, Beyoğlu or the Galata area. From Kabatas, it is the same 10-minute walk to the ground. The M2 metro connects Taksim to sishane, sisli and Hacıosman, so many fans staying north of the Golden Horn take the M2 to Taksim and change to the F1.
The ferry stop at Kabatas is around a 7-minute walk from the stadium, and the Besiktas ferry pier is closer at around 5 minutes via Dolmabahce Caddesi. Ferries from Üsküdar and Kadıkoy on the Asian side dock at Besiktas Pier throughout the day. The crossing is scenic and avoids the bridge traffic that builds up before kick-off.
Istanbul Airport, usually written as IST, is around 45 kilometres north-west of the city. Havaist and HVIST services connect the airport with central districts, including Taksim and Besiktas. Journey time can move from roughly an hour to much longer, depending on traffic, so arriving fans should avoid planning a tight airport-to-stadium transfer on matchday.
Sabiha Gokcen Airport, usually written as SAW, sits on the Asian side and requires more time. HAVABUS services, the M4 metro and Bosphorus ferry combinations can all work, but the journey is more vulnerable to traffic and connection delays. For the Europa League final, UEFA has advised fans arriving by commercial flight on matchday to land no later than 15:00 local time if they want enough time to reach the stadium.
From Sultanahmet, the simplest city route is the T1 tram to Kabatas, then a short walk. From Taksim, the easiest route is the F1 funicular down to Kabatas. From Kadıkoy or Üsküdar, the ferry to Besiktas is usually more enjoyable than crossing by road. On major matchdays, walking the final stretch is often faster than sitting in a taxi near Dolmabahce Caddesi.
There is no large dedicated supporter car park at Tupras Stadium. The narrow streets behind Dolmabahce Caddesi have limited paid spaces, and most fill before gates open. On UEFA matchdays, including the 2026 Europa League final, the security perimeter restricts vehicle access close to the ground, and public stadium parking is not available.
The practical plan for fans who must drive is to park away from the stadium and walk. Taksim-area car parks such as Talimhane or Macka Park can work if you arrive early, but queues leaving the area can be slow. Hotels in Besiktas and Akaretler may offer paid valet parking for guests, though event surcharges are possible. Confirm arrangements before booking accommodation.
Accessible parking for the UEFA final is handled separately through the ticketing and accessibility process. It is not a turn-up car park. Supporters who receive an accessible parking pass should follow the assigned route and allow extra time at the security perimeter.
Tupras Stadium is a continuous bowl with two main side stands and two behind-goal ends. The west side is the main stand, with the players' tunnel, dugouts, media seats and most premium spaces. The east stand gives a broad tactical view. The end sections carry the strongest supporter noise during Besiktas matches and become finalist allocation areas for UEFA finals.
carsı is the famous Besiktas supporter culture associated with banners, chanting and the covered home-end feel that shaped the old İnonü identity. Buyers who want the most intense domestic atmosphere normally look toward the behind-goal areas, but they should also read listing notes carefully because exact allocations can change by competition and security plan.
The west stand is the main side of the ground. Central lower rows give a close touchline view, while middle-tier premium areas provide easier lounge access. Upper west corner seats can also catch the Bosphorus outlook, which is part of the stadium's appeal on evening fixtures.
The east stand is a practical choice for buyers who want a side-on view without choosing the main premium stand. Rows in the middle of the lower tier keep the pitch close, while upper central rows suit supporters who want to read tactical shape, substitutions and build-up play.
| Priority | Recommended Sections |
|---|---|
| Atmosphere | Behind-goal lower areas for Besiktas fixtures; finalist ends for UEFA finals |
| Tactical overview | Upper east stand central rows |
| Close to pitch | Lower west or lower east touchline rows |
| Families | Calmer upper corner areas, subject to match-specific rules |
| Value balance | Upper north or upper south corners |
| Hospitality | West stand boxes, lounges and middle-tier premium seats |
| Bosphorus view | Upper west-side corner seats |
| Accessibility | Wheelchair and easy-access locations sold through dedicated ticket types |
For ordinary Süper Lig fixtures, visiting fans are separated from home supporters and should use the entrance details stated on their ticket or Passolig instruction. Exact visiting-supporter blocks can change by opponent, policing plan and competition. Do not rely on old seat maps alone when buying because the ticket listing and match instruction carry the current entry route.
For the 2026 Europa League final, UEFA separates the finalist support and runs the venue through its final-day access model. Buyers following Aston Villa or SC Freiburg should check whether the listing is in a finalist allocation, neutral section or hospitality area before purchase. This matters for colour, access route and the atmosphere around your block.
Neutral buyers usually prefer the side stands because they give a cleaner view and avoid being inside a strongly partisan end. Supporters wearing club colours should avoid home-only or rival-leaning areas unless the listing notes clearly allow it. On European final nights, follow the colour and gate printed on the mobile ticket rather than a generic stadium map.
The west side of Tupras Stadium contains the main hospitality inventory, including boxes, lounge access and premium seats. For the Europa League final, hospitality has its own schedule. UEFA lists hospitality opening at 19:00 local time, with guests asked to take seats by 21:30 before the 21:45 opening ceremony and 22:00 kick-off.
Hospitality tickets are different from Category 1 standard seats. Category 1 sits at the top end of the normal ticket scale, while hospitality is sold as a separate product with lounge service, premium access and additional matchday facilities. Buyers should not assume that every central longside seat includes food, drink or lounge access. The listing notes should make that clear.
Hospitality can be useful for corporate buyers, families wanting less queuing and travellers who prefer to stay inside the stadium after the final whistle. UEFA says hospitality areas remain open for 90 minutes after the final whistle, which can help guests avoid the first surge on the tram, ferry and funicular routes.
The roof covers the upper tier of every stand, but the lower bowl can catch wind and spray from the Bosphorus on wet evenings. May in Istanbul is usually mild, with warm afternoons and cooler nights close to the water. A light layer is sensible for a 22:00 local kick-off because the air around Dolmabahce and the ferry pier can feel cooler after sunset.
Rain is possible in late spring, so a packable waterproof is more useful than an umbrella. Matchday prohibited-items guidance can restrict large or hard items, and buyers should always check the fixture-specific stadium rules before travel. Lower side and corner seats are more exposed to wind than upper covered rows, although the compact bowl protects most spectators better than an open athletics-style stadium.
Tupras Stadium operates strict security on both domestic and UEFA matchdays. For the 2026 Europa League final, UEFA states that bags larger than A4 size will not be allowed inside the stadium. There is no on-site cloakroom or bag-storage facility for supporters who arrive with large luggage. Leave backpacks and suitcases at your hotel or use city luggage storage before travelling to Besiktas.
No food or drink can be brought into the stadium for the 2026 final. That includes drink containers, whether full or empty. UEFA also lists alcohol, coins, smoking, e-cigarettes and heat-not-burn tobacco products among restricted items for the stadium. A small power bank no larger than your phone is allowed, and supporters should bring a valid original ID in case ticket support or police request it.
For Besiktas domestic fixtures, the same practical advice applies: carry only what you need, avoid hard-sided bags and arrive early enough for ID-linked ticket checks. Security can be slower at derbies and European fixtures because ticket verification, body search and perimeter access are handled in stages.
Besiktas's pre-match scene revolves around carsı, a packed market and bar area five minutes on foot from the stadium and Akaretler, the rebuilt terrace street running uphill towards Macka. The area has meyhanes, beer halls, casual restaurants, coffee shops and late bars, so buyers can plan anything from a quick kofte sandwich to a longer meal before walking down to the gates.
Kazan on sair Leyla Sokak is a long-running supporter bar with affordable pints and a dense matchday crowd. Joker on sair Leyla Sokak is another small, dependable bar drawing a Besiktas crowd. Craft Beer Lab on Sinanpasa Koprü Sokak suits craft-beer drinkers and tends to be calmer than the bars closest to the ground.
Akaretler Sıraevleri, a few hundred metres uphill from the stadium, has restaurants, cocktail bars and casual eateries for a sit-down meal. Citylights Bar on top of the InterContinental in Taksim has Bosphorus views and is around 20 minutes on foot. Visitors based on the Asian side may prefer to eat near Kadıkoy, then take the ferry across.
Tupras Stadium is cashless for the UEFA final, with Visa and Mastercard accepted for food, drink and merchandise, while American Express is not accepted at stadium concessions. Concourse kiosks usually focus on quick-service food and soft drinks. For the 2026 Europa League final, UEFA says no alcohol will be sold inside the stadium.
Outside the ground, Besiktas carsı has dozens of reliable kebap, pide and lahmacun spots. Karadeniz Pide ve Doner Salonu on Mumcu Bakkal Sokak is a no-frills local favourite. For a high-end meal near the water, Tuğra inside cırağan Palace Kempinski is around a 10-minute walk along the Bosphorus from the stadium.
Entry procedures at Tupras Stadium differ between domestic Besiktas matches and UEFA fixtures. For Süper Lig fixtures, adult ticket holders normally need a Passolig account or card linked to the ticket. International visitors should set up Passolig before travel if they are attending a domestic match and should use the same personal details that appear on their passport.
For the 2026 Europa League final, Passolig is not required. UEFA tickets are mobile-only and delivered through the UEFA Mobile Tickets app a few days before the match. Screenshots and printed copies are not valid for entry. Download the app before travelling, log in with the purchase email and load the ticket before reaching the turnstile.
The final kicks off at 22:00 local time in Istanbul, 21:00 CEST. UEFA says gates open at 19:00 local time, three hours before kick-off. Arrive early because ticket checks, security screening and gate-direction controls all take time. Ticket holders under 16 can enter the stadium only with an accompanying adult who also has a valid match ticket.
Tupras Stadium is easier to leave than many major grounds because Kabatas tram, the F1 funicular and the Besiktas ferry pier all sit within walking distance. The pressure point is the first 15 to 30 minutes after the final whistle, when supporters move toward Dolmabahce Caddesi and the coastal road at the same time.
For a late final, expect the T1 tram towards Sultanahmet and the F1 funicular to Taksim to be crowded after full-time. If you do not need to be first out, waiting inside a hospitality area or in the surrounding district can make the return calmer. Walking uphill to Taksim takes effort but may beat the first funicular queue for supporters who are comfortable with a steep route.
The ferry route to Üsküdar or Kadıkoy is one of the calmer post-match options when services are running. Ferry queues build quickly after major fixtures, but the crossing gives supporters based on the Asian side a direct escape from road traffic. Check the late timetable on matchday because service frequency can change for large events.
BiTaksi and Uber are commonly used in Istanbul, but prices and waiting times rise sharply after major fixtures. Walking 15 minutes inland to Macka Park or Akaretler usually gives a cleaner pickup point than trying to order a car directly beside the Dolmabahce Palace. Agree on the route in the app and keep your hotel name saved in Turkish.
Besiktas has played football on this site since 1947, when BJK İnonü Stadium first opened. Named after İsmet İnonü, the Turkish president of the time, the original ground became one of the symbolic homes of Istanbul football. It sat in clear view of the Bosphorus and Dolmabahce Palace, which gave Besiktas a visual identity that few clubs could match.
The old ground closed in 2013 and the rebuilt stadium opened on 11 April 2016, when Besiktas beat Bursaspor 3-2. The naming-rights deal with Vodafone meant the ground operated as Vodafone Arena and Vodafone Park before the Tupras sponsorship brought the current name from the 2023-24 season. UEFA uses Besiktas Park for European competition naming.
Besiktas 3 Bursaspor 2 on 11 April 2016 was the first competitive fixture in the rebuilt stadium. In autumn 2017, Besiktas faced Porto, Monaco and RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League group stage and became the first Turkish club to top a Champions League group unbeaten. The run remains a major reference point for European nights at the stadium.
Liverpool 2 Chelsea 2 on 14 August 2019, with Liverpool winning 5-4 on penalties, brought the UEFA Super Cup to the venue and proved the stadium could handle a major European final. A separate Turkish Cup semi-final incident on 19 April 2018 at Fenerbahce, not Tupras Stadium, was abandoned at 0-0 after Besiktas coach senol Günes was struck by an object from the stands. That correction matters because the earlier draft wrongly placed the incident in a Besiktas v Galatasaray match.
The immediate international focus is the 2026 Europa League final on 20 May. UEFA has also awarded the 2027 Conference League final to Istanbul's Besiktas Park, keeping the venue in the European final rotation. There are no confirmed public plans for a capacity expansion, which is unsurprising given the central site, palace boundary and road limitations around Dolmabahce.
The future value of the venue is likely to come from high-profile football nights, concerts, museum visits and premium-event use rather than a larger bowl. For buyers, that means scarcity remains part of the Tupras Stadium market. A 40,000-plus capacity can still feel tight when Besiktas host major rivals or when a European final brings travelling demand from two countries into central Istanbul.
For the 2026 Europa League final, UEFA sells two accessibility ticket types: wheelchair user and easy access for spectators with limited mobility. A complimentary companion ticket can be added during the ticket payment window. Supporters with accessibility tickets should transfer the companion ticket to their guest before matchday.
UEFA states that trained staff will be available at each entrance with designated accessibility lanes. Accessibility information points will be positioned near the accessible entrances on the North and South sides of the stadium. Accessible toilets are located near wheelchair and easy-access seating, around 20 metres from seats in the North section and around 40 metres in the South section. Accessible lifts are available in the North and South sections, serving wheelchair and easy-access seats.
Audio-descriptive commentary is available on matchday in Turkish and the finalist languages through the UEFA Europa League app. Supporters should bring a fully charged mobile phone with the app already installed and their own headphones. The service is available from 15 minutes before kick-off through the app's audio-descriptive commentary menu.
The 2026 Europa League final is expected to be among the highest-demand fixtures staged at Tupras Stadium. Buyers comparing Europa League final tickets can use the wider final hub for tournament context, while the live Aston Villa vs SC Freiburg ticket listing gives a direct route to current availability, seat categories and delivery notes. Published UEFA standard ticket prices for the final are Fans First at €40, Category 3 at €65, Category 2 at €160 and Category 1 at €240, while hospitality is sold separately.
Demand is shaped by Aston Villa's first UEFA final since the 1982 European Cup era and Freiburg reaching a first continental final. English travelling demand also connects naturally to Villa Park interest because some buyers compare the cost of a final trip with a major home fixture in Birmingham. For the venue page, the practical point is simple: compare category, row, finalist-end notes and mobile-transfer timing before paying.
Outside the final, Tupras Stadium demand rises for Besiktas matches against Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor, plus any European knockout tie. Those matches can move quickly when general availability narrows, so buyers should not wait until match week if they need adjacent seats, hospitality or a section with an easier route from Kabatas.
1BoxOffice lists Tupras Stadium seats from verified sellers and backs eligible orders with a 150% money-back guarantee. The eight steps below cover the purchase journey for the Europa League final, Besiktas fixtures and other major events at the ground.

Most international visitors arrive at Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Besiktas, Beyoğlu, Karakoy, Taksim and Sultanahmet are the most popular bases for travelling fans, all within tram, ferry or funicular range of the ground. For UEFA final travel, build the day around the 19:00 gate opening rather than the 22:00 kick-off because security, mobile-ticket checks and crowd flows take time.
Istanbul is largely cashless in hotels, stadiums and larger restaurants, but smaller traditional restaurants and markets may prefer Turkish lira. Carry a small cash float for cafés or taxis while using cards for the stadium and major retailers. The city is two hours ahead of UK time in May. Bottled water is widely available and is the better choice for visitors who do not know the local tap water guidelines.
For comparable European trips, the venues hub covers major football grounds across the continent and the Premier League tickets page helps Aston Villa supporters compare domestic demand around the final week. Keep your passport, mobile ticket, battery pack and hotel address ready before leaving your accommodation.
Dolmabahce Palace is the closest major landmark and sits immediately beside the stadium. cırağan Palace, Macka Park, Besiktas carsı and the Bosphorus ferry piers are all within an easy walk. Supporters staying in Taksim get nightlife and fast funicular access, while Karakoy gives a better balance between sightseeing, food and tram access.
Sultanahmet is better for Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar, but it is further from the stadium. The T1 tram makes the journey simple if you leave early. Besiktas itself is the most convenient base for walking to the ground, though hotel prices can rise sharply around European finals, derbies and major concerts.
After the match, staying near Akaretler or Taksim can save a long, late-night journey. Visitors on the Asian side should check ferry timings before booking. Kadıkoy is lively and attractive, but the post-match crossing needs a little more planning than a hotel on the European side.
Tupras Stadium is usually described publicly as a 42,000-seat venue. The Turkish Football Federation lists the stadium at 42,684 all-seater capacity, while UEFA uses around 40,000 when discussing European-final operations because broadcast, production and accreditation positions reduce usable capacity.
The fastest route from Sultanahmet, Eminonü or Karakoy is the T1 tram to Kabatas, then a 10-minute walk along Dolmabahce Caddesi. From Taksim, take the F1 funicular to Kabatas. From Üsküdar or Kadıkoy, take the ferry to Besiktas Pier, then walk to the ground.
Kabatas is the nearest major public-transport point, with T1 tram, F1 funicular and ferry connections. From Kabatas, it is around a 10-minute walk to the stadium along the coastal road. There is no metro station directly at Tupras Stadium.
There is no large supporter car park at the stadium, and UEFA final-day public parking is not available. Use public transport where possible. Fans who need to drive should park well away from the security perimeter and walk in from Taksim or Macka.
You normally need Passolig for Süper Lig fixtures because Turkish domestic tickets are linked to a supporter ID. Passolig is not required for the 2026 Europa League final. UEFA uses mobile tickets through the UEFA Mobile Tickets app for that match.
For the 2026 Europa League final, bags larger than A4 size are not allowed. No food or drink can be brought inside, including full or empty drink containers. There is no supporter cloakroom, so leave large bags at your hotel before travelling to the stadium.
The behind-goal areas usually carry the strongest Besiktas noise, especially around carsı supporter culture. For the 2026 Europa League final, the finalist ends should carry the loudest match-specific support while the side stands offer a more neutral view.
For domestic fixtures, visiting supporters are separated and must follow the entrance shown on their ticket or Passolig instruction. For the 2026 Europa League final, Aston Villa and Freiburg supporters use UEFA's finalist allocation model. Check the listing notes before buying.
Yes. For the 2026 Europa League final, UEFA lists wheelchair-user and easy-access ticket types, designated accessibility lanes, North and South accessibility information points, accessible toilets near wheelchair and easy-access seats and lifts serving those areas.
For the 2026 Europa League final, gates open at 19:00 local time for a 22:00 local kick-off. Arrive three hours before the match because ticket checks, security screening and route controls can take time around Besiktas Park.
The final operates as a cashless event. Visa and Mastercard are accepted for stadium food, drink and merchandise, while American Express is not accepted at concessions. UEFA states that no alcohol will be sold inside the stadium for the 2026 final.
For domestic Besiktas fixtures, family-area rules and age policies can vary by match and should be checked through the club or Passolig before travel. For the 2026 Europa League final, ticket holders under 16 can enter only with an accompanying adult who also has a valid match ticket.
The Besiktas JK Museum and stadium tour schedule can change around home matches, UEFA fixtures, concerts and private events. Check the club's current museum and tour information before planning a visit, especially during the Europa League final week.
Prices depend on fixture, seat location, quantity and timing. UEFA's standard public prices for the 2026 Europa League final are Fans First €40, Category 3 €65, Category 2 €160 and Category 1 €240. Resale listings may be higher or lower depending on live availability.
Besiktas is closest to the ground. Taksim, Beyoğlu and Karakoy give strong nightlife and transport access. Sultanahmet is better for sightseeing but further from the stadium, so allow more travel time on the T1 tram.
UEFA fixtures use the UEFA Mobile Tickets app. Tickets are delivered a few days before the match. Screenshots and printed copies are not valid, so download the app, sign in with the purchase email and load the ticket before approaching the gate.
The stadium is built into a constrained historic site between Dolmabahce Palace, Besiktas and the Bosphorus. Its compact bowl keeps supporters close to the pitch while the west-side views and shoreline setting make it visually distinct from most modern football venues.
Dolmabahce Palace is next door. cırağan Palace, Macka Park, Besiktas carsı and the Bosphorus ferry piers are close by. Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar are reachable by tram from Kabatas.
The current stadium opened on 11 April 2016 with Besiktas's 3-2 league win over Bursaspor. It replaced the original BJK İnonü Stadium, which stood on the same site from 1947 until its closure and demolition in 2013.
UEFA selected Besiktas Park as part of its European final venue rotation. The stadium, which previously hosted the 2019 UEFA Super Cup, has a central Istanbul location and has also been awarded the 2027 UEFA Conference League final.
